Butler’s Music Education program offers you the opportunity to build the skills necessary for continued study in music education at a baccalaureate degree-granting institution. This program is designed for students with a desire to teach instrumental and/or vocal music from grades prekindergarten – 12.

Students who intend to major in music education should take four semesters of Music Theory, Aural Skills, Piano Proficiency, Applied Music, and Performance Ensembles.
Music education majors should also plan to take Orientation to Music Education (MU 171) in the fall semester of their freshman year, and Intro to Teaching (ED 206) in the spring semester of their freshman
year.
