Program Information
The pre-physician assistant pathway will prepare you to pursue a higher degree to become a Physician Assistant.
According to U.S. News & World Report (2013), physician assistant is one of the Top 15 Best Jobs in America.
Physician assistants, also known as PAs, practice medicine on teams with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare workers. They examine, diagnose, and treat patients. PAs may be the principal care providers in rural or inner city clinics and confer with the supervising physicians and other medical professionals as needed or as required by law. PAs also may make house calls or go to hospitals and long term care facilities to check on patients and report back to the physician. They are trained to function in a variety of settings including clinics, hospitals, emergency departments, armed services, and federal and state agencies.
Butler Community College is committed to flexible pathways for our student’s success. Courses are offered in varying delivery formats; face-to-face, blended and online.
